Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 11, 2026

Your privacy matters to us. This policy describes, in plain language, what we collect when you use bcqrd, why we collect it, and how you can control it.

1. Who we are and what this covers

bcqrd ("bcqrd", "we", "us" or "our") operates bcqrd.com and the bcqrd digital business card service (the "Services") from the United States. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

It applies to account holders, people who view a bcqrd card, people who share their contact details through a card, and visitors to our website.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your name, email address, phone number and password (stored in hashed form).
  • Card content: whatever you choose to put on a card, such as job title, company, photo, logo, phone numbers, email addresses, physical address, website and social links.
  • Team information: on the Business plan, the names and email addresses of team members added by the admin, and the cards created for them.
  • Orders: billing name, email, phone, billing and shipping address, items ordered, amounts, tax and order status.
  • Messages: anything you send through the contact form or by email.

Information from people who connect with a card owner

If you choose to share your details with a bcqrd user through their card, we collect the name, email, phone number and any note you provide and make them available to that user (and, on a Business plan, to their team admin).

Information collected automatically

  • Log data: our servers and hosting providers record standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and timestamps, used for security and troubleshooting.
  • Browser storage: we use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your cart. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party advertising trackers.

Payment information

Card payments are handled by Stripe. We receive a payment confirmation and reference, but we never receive or store your full card number or security code.

3. How we use information

  • To create and maintain your account and display your digital cards.
  • To deliver connections that people share with you.
  • To process payments, produce and ship NFC cards, and issue invoices and refunds.
  • To send service emails such as verification codes, password resets, receipts and order updates.
  • To respond to support requests.
  • To keep the Services secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
  • To comply with tax, accounting and other legal obligations.
  • To understand how the Services are used so we can improve them.

4. Information you make public

A digital card is designed to be shared. Anything you publish on a card can be seen by anyone who has its link, QR code or NFC card, and people who view it can save or forward it. You control what appears on your card and can edit or remove it at any time from your dashboard.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only as follows:

  • Service providers that help us run the Services under contract: payment processing (Stripe), cloud hosting and database providers, email delivery providers, and the shipping carrier that delivers a physical order (name and delivery address).
  • Other users, at your direction: the card owner you choose to share your details with, and a Business plan admin for cards and connections in their team.
  • Legal and safety: when required by law, subpoena or court order, or when needed to protect the rights, property or safety of bcqrd, our users or the public.
  • Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

6. How long we keep information

We keep account and card information for as long as your account is open. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except for records we must keep for legal reasons, such as order, invoice and tax records, and information needed to resolve disputes or prevent fraud.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords and restricted access to systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you as required by applicable state law.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Access and update: view and edit your account and card details in the dashboard.
  • Delete: ask us to delete your account and associated personal information.
  • Copy: ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Emails: any marketing email we send will include an unsubscribe link, as required by the CAN-SPAM Act. You cannot opt out of essential service emails such as receipts and security notices.
  • Connections: if you shared your details with a card owner and want them removed, contact that person or email us and we will help.

To make a request, email info@bcqrd.com from the address on your account. We will verify your identity before acting and respond within the time required by law, generally within 45 days.

9. US state privacy rights

Depending on where you live, state law may give you additional rights. This includes residents of California (under the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA), Texas, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and other states with comprehensive privacy laws. Where those laws apply to us, you may have the right to:

  • know what categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, the purposes and who we disclosed it to;
  • request deletion of your personal information;
  • request correction of inaccurate personal information;
  • receive a portable copy of your personal information;
  • opt out of the sale of personal information, sharing for targeted advertising, and certain profiling. We do not engage in these activities;
  • limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes that require this right;
  • not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights;
  • appeal a decision we make about your request by replying to our response or emailing info@bcqrd.com with the subject "Privacy appeal".

You may use an authorized agent to submit a request. We will ask for proof of the agent's authority and may verify your identity directly.

Categories collected in the past 12 months: identifiers (name, email, phone, IP address); customer records (billing and shipping address); commercial information (orders and plan history); internet activity (server logs); professional information you add to a card; and images you upload. These are collected from you directly, from people who share their details through a card, and automatically from your device, for the purposes described in section 3.

California "Shine the Light": we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing purposes.

10. Do Not Track

Because we do not track you across third-party websites or serve targeted advertising, our Services do not respond differently to browser "Do Not Track" signals.

11. Children's privacy

The Services are intended for adults aged 18 and over. They are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child has given us personal information, email info@bcqrd.com and we will delete it.

12. Users outside the United States

We operate in the United States and the Services are intended for US users. If you access them from another country, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

Cards and our website may link to third-party sites, such as a user's social profiles or website. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to read their policies.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version here with a new effective date and, for material changes, notify you by email or in the dashboard.
